Educating Internally Displaced Impoverished Children

Funded by LUKMEF within the framework of the Canadian Fund for Local Initiatives

On the 3rd of November 2022, Mi Niña received a small grant award from LUKMEF to implement Mi Niña’s project titled “Education Internally Displaced Impoverished Children”. This project was meant to facilitate access to formal education by paying school fee and providing school need to 30 children in Kumba.

So far Mi Niña has succeeded to provide school fee and need for 47 vulnerable children from 4 selected government primary schools in Kumba.

Mi Niña is delighted to be amongst the selected winners of the LUKMEF Small Grants program for local civil society organizations towards innovative community-based actions.

Under this framework, Mi Niña will will be facilitating access to formal education by paying school fee and providing school need to 30 children for her project titled Educating Internally Displaced Impoverished Children.

LUKMEF will be be working to improve the operational and institutional capacity of Mi Niña in accordance with LUKMEF hand book and Guidelines for Institutional and Operational Capacity Interventions in Humanitarian Settings.

Sensitization meeting with the first beneficiaries of “Educating Internally Displaced Impoverished Children” project

In a bid to inform some beneficiaries about the project and what will be required of them to proceed, Mi Niña held a sensitization meeting with some 6 beneficiaries and their accompanying guardians, a meeting  which was originally planned for 15 persons but some did not show up. Project coordinators 1 and 2 briefed those present about the project, taking into consideration AAP(Accountability to affected population). Some beneficiaries expressed their concerns and answers were given to them accordingly. To wrap up the meeting, accompanying guardians of beneficiaries where given consent forms to sign showing approval to use their personal information for funding purposes.
